Recycling Discovery Centres
MWDA and Veolia Environmental Services have launched a range of new and exciting opportunities for community groups, families and schools to learn more about the world of recycling and managing waste.
Our two Recycling Discovery Centres - the existing one at Bidston on the Wirral, and our new one at Gillmoss in Liverpool - offer a whole range of free activities and visit opportunities for communities, families, teachers and pupils right across Merseyside and Halton.
The Bidston Centre on the Wirral includes opportunities to watch recycling and recovery in action via TV links, explore the smarter shopping zone, creepy compost corner and observe landfill monitoring. You can participate in a range of hands-on activities including playing giant recycling snakes and ladders.
Come and learn from our Education Officers better ways to recycle, prevent waste and reuse materials. Take up the challenge to make a difference and make a promise on our Pledge Tree.
In addition at our new Gillmoss Centre in Liverpool we also offer the opportunity to take a tour along our special Viewing Gallery to see the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) process in action. Using ‘people power’ and a whole host of technology the MRF sorts tonnes of household recycling materials ready for the recycling market. Come and see how it’s done!
