The Recycling Process
Have you ever wanted to know what happens to the contents of your recycling bin after it's been emptied? For Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool and Wirral your recyclables are sent to the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Bidston. It's here that conveyor belts, separation machines and hand-sorting arranges all the materials into like-for-like streams, before the separated items (cardboard, paper, cans, plastic bottles) are sent off to reprocessing companies and turned into new items.
